Hirsutism (Excessive Hair)

Hirusutism refers to excessive hair. This condition is often familial but there are occasional endocrine causes of excessive androgens in female individuals, resulting in excesive growth of body hair. The most common cause for females is polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Treatment Options

1. Anti-androgens

Blocks the target cell receptors for androgens

2. Laser hair removal

High intensity light emitted in a short space of time, resulting in the removal of the growth portion of hair shafts.
